Sea World

I'm so terrible at updating my blog! Happy New Year!

Jodi and I love Sea World. We went the other day and this was the first time we had ever seen the polar bears do anything other than sleep. One of the polar bears was swimming laps around the pool until he noticed that he had an audience.

San Diego Wild Fires

Our thoughts go out to all those who lost their loved ones and homes.

We were evacuated in the morning on Monday, October 22nd. We packed up everything that was irreplaceable and we drove to Carlsbad and remained there until the mandatory evacuation was lifted. On the way, the sky was black-orange and ash was falling like a light snow. It was so dark, on the freeway all the cars had turned on their headlights. Even in Carlsbad the air was so filled with ash that it burned our throats to breathe. I wasn't thinking about taking pictures while evacuating, so I only have pictures of us returning home and the dissipating smoke in the sky. Many streets were still closed off by both the police and the military.

Memorial Day Weekend

For the Memorial Holiday, we went to Sea World on Saturday and then jet skiing at Mission Bay on Sunday. We feed the dolphins at Sea World (I've never touched a dolphin before) and saw almost every show! When we went jet skiing, we rode up to the penguin cage (Sea World is right on Mission Bay). Teddy Bear had a great time - he even swam for the first time ever! We spent almost the whole day at the beach and everyone was so tired that we all fell asleep on the drive back home.

Hanauma Bay

Here is a picture from our honeymoon - we were snorkeling in Hanauma Bay on Oahu, Hawaii. That is Jodi swimming behind a sea turtle. It was amazing! If you're ever on Oahu, you have to stop by Hanauma Bay, but get there extra early because the crowds can get pretty big.
